Dyslexia Assessment
Dyslexia assessment for children under 16. These are conducted in my own home or other arrangements can be discussed.
The assessment process typically involves several key components:
Initial Consultation: The assessment begins with a discussion with you, the parent or guardian. This meeting gathers information about the child's reducational history, any observed difficulties, and specific concerns you may have.
Standardised Testing: The assessor will carry out a series of standardised tests that evaluate various aspects of literacy, including phonological awareness, decoding skills, spelling abilities, and reading comprehension. These tests are designed to identify any discrepancies that may indicate dyslexia.
Cognitive Assessments: In addition to literacy testing, cognitive assessments may be included to evaluate the child’s overall cognitive abilities, which can help to rule out other potential learning difficulties.
Observations: The assessor will also make observations regarding the child’s behaviour and attitudes towards reading and writing during the assessment. This qualitative data provides valuable context to the numerical results.
Feedback Session: After the assessment, a feedback session will be arranged to discuss the findings. This session will cover whether dyslexia is identified, the severity of the difficulties, and recommendations for support and intervention.
Report: A comprehensive report will be provided, detailing the assessment results, conclusions, and tailored strategies to support the child's learning. This report can also be useful for educational settings to implement appropriate recommendations.
